Safeguarding Children and Young People

We take seriously our responsibility to deliver a support environment that is caring, nurturing and safe. Our organisation has successfully achieved accreditation in Tasmania as a Safeguarding Children and Young People Organisation.

Our commitment to safeguarding children and young people is reflected in our management systems and our collective organisational culture. Our focus includes zero tolerance for any abuse or neglect and our commitment to the right for safe, best practice outcomes for children, young people and their families. Our organisation recognises that the children and young people we support represent a culturally and linguistically diverse background. This can include those who identify with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, the LGBTI community and those living with a disability or in situations of being unable to live at home. Respecting the rights of all children and young people participating in decision making is fundamental to our supports.

Our framework which is endorsed by the Board, Executive and Management teams, involve organisational policies and procedures, employment and training strategies, individualised planning and behavioural support processes, incident reporting and management, periodic monitoring and review for protection and performance.

Our employees must agree and adhere to our policy principles and commitments outlined in our internal education programs. A dedicated Practice Team develop and maintain programs to support employees to prevent sources of abuse such as sexual, physical, emotional or psychological and report any witnessed neglect or family violence.
